OVERVIEW

SHORT ITINERARY

Day 1: Pickup from Dimapur. Drive to Kigwema. Attend festival.
Day 2: Attend Hornbill Festival. Experience the Naga Tribes’ food, culture and music.
Day 3: Drive from Kigwema to Viswema. Trek from Viswema to Dzukou valley.(~10km ~4hr) Night Stay.
Day 4: Explore Dzukou Valley in the morning. Trek down to Viswema and drive from Viswema to Kigwema. Attend second half of Festival.
Day 5: Visit Khonoma on the way to Dimapur after breakfast. See off.

LONG ITINERARY

Day 1: Pickup from Dimapur. Drive to Kigwema. Attend festival.

The drive will take you from Dimapur to the hills of Kohima and further to Kigwema. The festival ground is a short walking distance from our stay.

Day 2: Attend Hornbill Festival.
Experience the Naga Tribes’ food, culture and music.

Get ready early after breakfast to take the best seats in the Kisama Festival Ground for the cultural showcase of the tribes from North East India. From the colourful dresses to the frightening battle cries, the spectacle will leave you spellbound.

Day 3: Drive from Kigwema to Viswema. Trek from Viswema to Dzukou valley. (~10km ~4hr) Night Stay.

Today we will trek to Dzukou valley. After a heavy breakfast, grab your packed lunch and get ready for an adventure packed offroad ride to the trek starting point. The trail starts off steep

Day 4: Explore Dzukou Valley in the morning. Trek down to
Viswema and drive from Viswema to Kigwema.
Attend second half of Festival.

Early in the morning we hike to the Dzukou creek, a small stream flowing through the Dzukou valley. And further to the “Cross”. We return back for breakfast and hike down to the roadhead, reaching Vishwema for lunch.
Attend the Hornbill Music Festival and do your last bit of shopping from the local handicraft stalls.

Day 5: Visit Khonoma on the way to Dimapur after breakfast. See off.

After an early breakfast, we set off to visit Khonoma, “India’s First Green Village”. Once, where the air vibrated with the chants of warriors and the echoing calls of the chase by hunters, Khonoma now hums with a different kind of courage – the courage to protect. We spend about an hour exploring the village alongside a local guide. Drop off will be around noon to afternoon at Dimapur.

The only Airport and Railway station is at Dimapur.

You can start by jogging everyday and 20-30 minutes free hand workout for at least 30 days.

BEST TIME TO TREK

The best time to do Dzukou Valley trek is during the month of May-January. Although you can visit the valley throughout the year but the trek is mostly famous as a Monsoon trek

Challenging terrains- The trek involve Steep ascends and descends, rocky paths and slippery trails.

Limited Facilities – The infrastructure of Dzukou Valley trekkers hut is relatively basic with limited accomodation and facilities available.
